This series of photographs is a somewhat retro visit to the techniques of model making and multipart composites. We used to use lots of expensive models a few years ago but improvements in postproduction techniques have made it less necessary.

In this case it was not really possible to use real heavy plant because the size of the control cab is much too small relative to the size of the crane. Real people wearing hard hats are operating the machines. This was my first big poster originated entirely digitally. Model crane made by Parallax Models.
